Founding and Development

Sheikh Dr. Nabil Zahr, Abu Abdul-Rahman, may Allah have mercy upon him, founded the Islamic Heritage Center in 2001. He taught Islamic subjects, led prayers, and served the Muslim community, while also establishing educational institutions for Muslim children.

Important milestones in this work include:

• 2001: The Islamic Heritage Center was established to serve worship, education, dawah, and the community.
• 2009: The American University for Arabic and Islamic Studies was established.
• 2010: Palm Tree School was established to teach Muslim children Arabic and Islamic studies alongside advanced American academic curricula.

These institutions made it possible to teach Islam and Arabic in both the masjid and the school, while also attending to children's academic education.

The Center's Mission and Approach

The center teaches Islam from its authentic sources and encourages following the Quran and Sunnah according to the understanding of the Companions, may Allah be pleased with them. Its lessons cover tawheed, worship, good character, and the rulings Muslims need to understand their religion.

It also helps Muslims learn their religion and introduces Islam to those who wish to know more about it. The center encourages putting knowledge into practice, treating people well, fulfilling their rights, and helping those who need support.

Prayer

The center holds:

• The five daily prayers in congregation.
• Friday prayer and the khutbah.
• Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha prayers.
• Taraweeh prayers during Ramadan.

Education and Classes Across Generations

The center provides daily lectures and lessons for brothers and sisters, alongside classes for young people and adults, to teach Islam from the Quran and Sunnah. It helps Muslims understand their worship, learn the rulings of their religion, and progress gradually in seeking knowledge and acting upon it.

The American University for Arabic and Islamic Studies

The university was established to provide structured study of Islamic and Arabic subjects. It offered courses in fiqh, aqeedah, tafsir, Quranic sciences, hadith and its methodology, Arabic language and grammar, tajweed, and Quran memorization, helping students study these subjects in an organized way.

Palm Tree School teaches advanced American academic curricula alongside Arabic and Islamic studies. It helps students learn their religion and language, progress in their academic studies, and develop the knowledge and skills to contribute positively to their community.

Zakah, Charity, and Support for Those in Need

Your zakah and charitable donations help families in need, support orphans, and ease the hardship of people going through difficult circumstances. The center receives these funds and works to deliver them to eligible recipients, observing the rulings and recipient categories of zakah.

We invite you to pay your zakah and give whatever voluntary charity you can to help those in need. Your contribution may help a family through a difficult time or meet a need they cannot afford. We ask Allah to accept your giving and bless you in what He has granted you.

Islamic Guidance and Support for Families

The center provides Islamic guidance on worship, family life, and dealings with others, helping community members understand the rulings, rights, and responsibilities relevant to their questions. It also encourages reconciliation and resolving disagreements through understanding and fulfilling people's rights.
