The Center works to ensure that the Nikah is conducted clearly and in a manner that protects the rights of both spouses, with the wali and two witnesses present and the offer and acceptance, mahr, and other relevant requirements completed. The official marriage license required for the ceremony location must also be obtained, as legal requirements and license validity periods may differ by state and county.
Contact the Center first to confirm appointment availability, the ceremony location, the state in which the marriage will be conducted, and the current requirements. Final arrangements should not be made before the appointment has been confirmed with the Center.
Obtain an original, current marriage license that is valid for use where the ceremony will take place. If the issuing authority asks about the type of ceremony, state that it will be a religious ceremony. Bring the original license and all required court documents to the appointment.

The couple and the wali must schedule a meeting with the Imam before the Nikah ceremony to review forms and documents, verify the conditions of the contract, specify the agreed mahr, and answer procedural questions. Failure to complete this meeting or provide all required documents may result in postponement.
The ceremony is held at the Islamic Heritage Center after all requirements have been completed. Once the contract is concluded, each spouse receives an Islamic marriage certificate. This certificate does not replace the official marriage license or any legal registration required by the appropriate authority.
